Defibrillators in Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford

In recent months two organisations, The Parish of Wisley with Pyrford and Byfleet United Charities have separately funded 6 additional Automated External Defibrillators in our three villages. As a result, the RA has decided to create a living list of local locations with defibrillators, starting with those it is aware of. If you know of any more other than those listed below, please do let Andrew Grimshaw know via vrp@the-residents.org.

If you come across someone who is unconscious, unresponsive, not breathing or not breathing normally, they’re most likely in cardiac arrest. The most important thing is to call 999 and start CPR to keep the blood flowing to the brain and around the body. After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces someone’s chance of survival by 10 per cent.

If you are on your own, do not interrupt the CPR to go and get a defibrillator. If it is possible, send someone else to find one. When you call 999, the operator can tell you if there is a public access defibrillator nearby.

Updates and corrections please email: vrp@the-residents.org.

How to Access Defibrillators

  • If they are outside you need to ring 999 and ask for the access code
  • If inside and the building is open, just ask

Instructions and Guidance

If someone suffers cardiac arrest and has stopped breathing

  • Call 999 and request an Ambulance
  • Advise them of your position (the postcode is shown on the outside of the yellow box)
  • Start CPR if you can
  • Request the access code to the defibrillator if required
  • Follow instructions on the defibrillator

Welcome to the Byfleet, West Byfleet & Pyrford Residents’ Association Website

The Byfleet, West Byfleet & Pyrford Residents’ Association (the ‘RA’) is a local community group open to residents (homeowners and tenants) and businesses operating in the three villages. We attempt to represent the interests of everyone living in our area and/or contributing to the local economy. We strive to ensure that the three villages remain attractive, prosperous, environmentally sustainable, safe and socially welcoming places in which to live.

It was formed in 1928 and has been run by volunteers continuously since then – more than 90 years of dedicated service to the residents of our villages.

Current membership represents around 30% of all households (around 2,400 homes). We have a network of 150 volunteer street representatives who keep contact with our members, deliver our newsletter and collect subscriptions (where possible). These street representatives are the life blood of the RA.

The types of issues that the RA had focussed on recently include planning, Green Belt protection and anti-social behaviour. The RA also supports local charities and has a donations policy.

Looking forward the RA would like to expand its community involvement to include health, education, and leisure facilities for young people.   That is dependent on having volunteers with both an interest and a desire to become involved.

Join today and receive the next issue of our newsletter, The Resident, which is published three times a year. You will also be entitled to receive details by email of local events planned by the RA (subject to current COVID 19 restrictions) and matters of interest to local residents.
