The Environment Agency is working with partners to reduce flooding to properties in the Sanway area.
Their plans include new flood defences, environmental and community enhancements, and compensatory storage areas for displaced flood water.
They ran a public engagement event in March 2021. They received lots of useful comments and have continued to develop the scheme taking this feedback into account.
They are now planning for their next engagement event which will be in May 2022. This is to share the latest proposals and seek comments. They will amend their proposals where feasible to accommodate feedback.
They are holding a drop-in event and a Zoom event so you can choose which one is better for you.
The drop-in event is as follows:
Date: Saturday 21 May 2022
Time: 10am to 4pm
Venue: St Mary’s Community Centre, Stream Close, Byfleet, West Byfleet, KT14 7LZ
The Zoom event is as follows:
Date: Wednesday 25 May 2022
Time: 7pm to 8.30pm
Login details: please visit this website to register for the event –

The scheme website (link below) will be updated with the latest proposals on Thursday 12 May 2022. You can also provide your feedback using the online form on the website. The closing date for comments to be considered in this engagement event is Sunday 19 June 2022.
It remains the case that for the scheme to be delivered, it must be fully approved and with the correct planning permission. The partnership funding must also be in place, where currently there is a shortfall.
The Environment Agency is working with other partners, including Woking Borough Council and Surrey County Council, to seek this additional funding.
