Woking & Sam Beare Hospices will be unveiling its new 20-bed hospice in Goldsworth Park to the public with a series of three open days.
The free events will run from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 29 April, 3pm to 8pm on Tuesday 2 May, and 10am to 4pm on Wednesday 3 May at the hospice in Goldsworth Park Centre, Woking, GU21 3LG.
Road works are due to commence on Monday 3rd April in Sheerwater Road opposite The Marist Catholic Primary School. Southern Gas Networks will be using 2 way temporary traffic signals to lay a new connection.
The works will commence after 09.30 on Monday and are due to be completed by Friday 7th April 2017.
Those of you who have been up between midnight and 05:00 will have noticed that from 24th March Surrey County Council has switched off many of the street lights in Woking to save monies.
The Forum website (www.byfleetforum.org) now has the latest information on the Neighbourhood Plan for the village – but there is still time to have your say and we will also be encouraging shops and businesses in the village to participate.
The Byfleet, West Byfleet & Pyrford Residents’ Association (the ‘RA’) is a local community group open to residents (homeowners and tenants) and businesses operating in the three villages. We attempt to represent the interests of everyone living in our area and/or contributing to the local economy. We strive to ensure that the three villages remain attractive, prosperous, environmentally sustainable, safe and socially welcoming places in which to live.
It was formed in 1928 and has been run by volunteers continuously since then – more than 90 years of dedicated service to the residents of our villages.
Current membership represents around 30% of all households (around 2,400 homes). We have a network of 150 volunteer street representatives who keep contact with our members, deliver our newsletter and collect subscriptions (where possible). These street representatives are the life blood of the RA.
The types of issues that the RA had focussed on recently include planning, Green Belt protection and anti-social behaviour. The RA also supports local charities and has a donations policy.
Looking forward the RA would like to expand its community involvement to include health, education, and leisure facilities for young people. That is dependent on having volunteers with both an interest and a desire to become involved.
Join today and receive the next issue of our newsletter, The Resident, which is published three times a year. You will also be entitled to receive details by email of local events planned by the RA and matters of interest to local residents.
